Friday and Saturday. Mike, Eugene and Gary arrived a few days early and visited Miami. Tom took one photo while waiting for his flight in New Bern. That isn't just folks waiting at the gate, it is the whole airport. Peter, Mark, Bill and Tom came in throughout the day Saturday and then we drove to Key Largo.
Sunday. We check out the house and the yard, which extended down to the water. We had planned on snorkeling Thursday, but the weather forecast was not good, because hurricane Nicole was approaching Florida. We got lucky and rescheduled to Sunday with Island Ventures. Tom and Gary had waterproof cameras but the lighting was poor. We caught the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico and then had dinner at the Fish House.
Monday. We had a bit of a drive to the center of the Everglades. First we rented bikes from Shark Valley Tram Tours and biked 15 miles. Then we drove to Everglades Safari Park where we got an airboat ride and a wildlife show. We had dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant in Homestead.
Tuesday. Today we visited Key West. After parking, we took a city tour by bike led by Bruce of Key Lime Bike Tours. After linner at Conch Republic, we went back to Key largo.
Wednesday. This was originally planned as a down day, but we still scheduled 18 holes of disc golf at Key Largo Community Park.
Thursday. The group started the day going to Dagny Johnson Botanical State Park for a short hike. Then we headed to Captain Jeff's house where we jumped in kayaks.
Friday. Back to the Everglades again. This time we entered the main park entrance in Homestead and met our guides at the Ernest F. Coe visitor center.
Saturday. Peter, Mark and Tom head home. Eugene, Gary, Mike and Bill stick around in Miami a few days.
