Here is fearless leader Mike Heavey after he picked out his trusty
stallion for the ride. We rented the bikes at Kanoe people of
Whitehorse.

After gathering supplies such as single malt scotch and a cooler of
beer, we were on our way down the Alaska Highway. Our driver Marc was anxious
to test the limits of our rental van. The right photo is a view out the
van window, with videographer Gary filming. |

This was our lunch stop at a historical marker in Champagne, Yukon,
about halfway down the road from
Whitehorse
to Haines Junction. The right
photo shows Rick, Tom L., Eugene, Dennis and Gary. |
We took the van to the Pine Lake campground. Here Gary, Jerry, Eugene
and Tom P. check out the Pine Lake campsite |

We didn't really need the tarp until just before we departed the next
morning. But it did prove helpful as the squirrels kept knocking pins cone
chunks on our heads. |
This is what we really came for: the scenery.
This is Pine Lake, viewed from just behind our campsite. |

In many locations, such as
Whitehorse,
Haines Junction (shown here)
and
Atlin,
there were signs to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the
Klondike Gold Rush. |
Here is Jerry Brown standing in front of a tourist attraction (I am
not sure what else to call it) at the corner of the Alaska Highway and
the
Haines Highway.

Several of us journeyed up the Alaska Highway to shoot a few more photos
before returning to camp for dinner (hot dogs). This was a small lake that
was as far north as we traveled on this trip. |
Here the two Toms, myself and Tom Proietti, look out over a small stream
where some birds were. This was just south of the lake in the photo above. |
