The team hopped into the van and we drove from Million
Dollar Falls(by the Dalton Pass) to Mosquito Lake. It looks like there
would have been some serious hills in this section of roadway, so we were
not too disappointed we would travel in the van. We also crossed the Yukon/British
Columbia border, and the Canada/U.S. border later. |

You will just need to take my word for it, but the moon is visible
between these two peaks. We skidded to a stop (at 140kph) to get this shot.
My version of this photo is not as good. Jerry got this one. |
Jerry took the left photo of me as we stopped at at a photogenic point
in the Chilkat Pass. You can see the flowers from the other photo in the
background. Maybe you can even see Mike's duffel bag? He either left it
on the ground here or it blew off the trailer as we set a new land speed
record on our way to Mosquito Lake. |

The second complete group photo. The camera can really not do justice
to the scenery. From left to right, Dennis, Eugene, Tom P., Mike, Gary,
Jerry, Marc, Tom L. and Rick. |

The final leg of the bike trip started at about noon on
Wednesday. Mike discovered that one of his his duffel bags was missing.
He jumped back in the van with Rick and headed back to B.C. to try to find
it. Another traveler located it and he got it back Saturday. Marc
had business to attend to so he headed towards Haines
to get the ferry early.
Now we were the Haines 8. |
|
While Mike and Rick were driving, the rest of us took a lunch break,
and then we headed down to get a look at Mosquito Lake. The name seemed
pretty appropriate, so we were glad we had not chosen to camp here. |

Along the Chilkoot River, several of us stopped for a Kodak moment.
Both of these were taken at the same spot. The photo of Tom P. and Eugene
was taken looking South. The nicely framed photo of myself was looking
North. |
We arrived! Jerry and I traded cameras for a moment so we could take
photos of each other by the sign. Gary had dropped off Rick at the ferry,
and was waiting for us with the van. |

On the way to the campsite, we stopped for another Kodak moment. This
is a photo of the town of Haines
with a cruise ship docked in the harbor. |
We all seemed to like running water near the campsite. Here is Gary
moving in for a closer photo of the stream behind our campsite outside
of Haines. |

We toured the town a bit, paid for a shower at our campsite, and then we
had dinner in
